China donates military equipment to the Bahamas

The People’s Republic of China (PRC) has donated military equipment worth approximately USD1.2 million to the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RDBF), according to the RDBF.

The equipment was officially handed over in a ceremony at the RBDF’s Coral Harbour base in Nassau, in late August.

The donation included 60 night-vision goggle sets, anti-riot protection gear, an assortment of 10,038 smoke and tear-gas grenades, two 38 mm grenade launchers for riot control, and a pair of Shaanxi Baoji Special Vehicles Company Tiger 4x4 armoured personnel carriers (APC).

The Tigers are the first APCs to be operated by the RBDF. The type is designed and manufactured for export, and other military users include Bolivia and Somalia.
