US Navy awards Lot 1 contract for CH-53K heavy lift helicopter

The US Navy (USN) on 31 August awarded Sikorsky a contract for its first low-rate initial production (LRIP) lot of two CH-53K King Stallion heavy lift helicopters, according to a Pentagon statement.

The deal is a USD304 million fixed-price, incentive-firm, firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to a previously awarded contract. The modification will provide aircraft, associated aircraft and programmatic support, logistics support, peculiar support equipment, and spares. Work will be performed in Stratford, Connecticut. Sikorsky said in a 1 September statement that the company will deliver the two production aircraft in 2020.
