Remdizel rolls out Taifun MRAP for airborne troops

Russia's Remdizel – Defence Solutions (RD-DS) company has developed the K-4386 Taifun mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicle intended for airborne troops and special forces, which it unveiled at the recent Army-2017 exhibition held outside Moscow from 22-27 August.

The K-4386 is a 4x4 wheeled vehicle with a monocoque armoured hull. It is intended for troop and cargo transport and support missions. The vehicle can carry up to eight soldiers and provide them with protection. According to RD-DS, the K-4386 has a curb weight of 11,000 kg and a gross vehicle weight of 13,500 kg. The Taifun is fitted with a hydropneumatic suspension that allows ground clearance adjustment. The vehicle is powered by a KAMAZ 610.10-350 engine with a power output of 350hp providing a maximum speed of 100 km/h.

The K-4386 Taifun demonstrator displayed at the Army-2017 had an unmanned armoured turret with a 2A42 30 mm automatic cannon, a 7.62 mm PKTM machine gun, and six smoke grenade launchers.
