The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) is scheduled to receive its last two modernised Northrop F-5FM Tiger II fighters between October and November and this would conclude the F-5M programme, the service told Jane's .
An April 2011 contract, worth BRL276 million (USD87 million), called for Embraer to upgrade eight F-5E single-seat and three F-5F twin-seat aircraft purchased from Jordan in 2007. The first and so far only F-5FM was received in October 2014.
The decision to truncate the programme at three aircraft, instead of 11, was due to operational, budget, and lifecycle concerns, the FAB’s top procurement official told Jane’s in April.
