- India has issued RFIs for utility and multirole naval helicopters
- Procurement is in line with the induction of new helicopter-capable surface combatants
The Indian Ministry of Defence has issued two separate requests for information (RFIs) in a bid to equip the Indian Navy with approximately 230 new naval helicopters.
The documents, which were both posted on the Indian Navy’s website on 23 August, reveal that the potential procurement consists of approximately 111 naval utility helicopters that can be used in missions, such as medical evacuation and surveillance, and 123 naval multirole helicopters with anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare capabilities.
