US Army orders additional HMS Manpacks for next phase of testing

Harris and Rockwell Collins will each deliver 101 Handheld, Manpack, and Small Form Factor (HMS) Manpack radios to the US Army for continued testing of the radios.

"The 101 radios per vendor will be used to support operational testing in 2018 and 2019. The HMS Manpack operational test scheduled for January 2019 will inform a potential full-rate production decision for HMS Manpack,” Paul Mehney, US Army Communications-Electronics Command spokesperson, told Jane’s .

Harris will provide the army the AN/PRC-158 multi-channel Falcon III HMS Manpack radio for dismounted and mounted manpack configurations to support two major army test events, the company said in a statement.
