Update: Philippine Air Force receives two Cessna 208B ISR aircraft from US

01 August 2017

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) has received two US-built Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX aircraft modified to carry out intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions.

The service released images of an unrelated awards ceremony held on 24 July at the Villamor Air Base in Manila showing the recently delivered turboprops parked on an apron alongside other PAF aircraft at the base.

Two days later the Philippine News Agency – a newswire service of the Philippine government – quoted military spokesperson Brigadier General Restituto Padilla as saying that the “donated” aircraft would be used to patrol the country’s coastal areas.

The 208Bs were formally handed over by US government representatives three days later.
