Estonia to host first ever cyber attack exercise for EU defence ministers

28 July 2017

Estonia plans to hold a cyber training exercise for Europe defence ministers to test how they would deal with the fallout from a major cyber attack. Estonia currently holds the EU rotating six-month presidency until end of 2017.

The strategic table-top exercise, dubbed ‘EU CYBRID 2017’, will take place in Tallinn on 7 September during an informal meeting of EU defence ministers. Focused on situational awareness, crisis response mechanisms, and strategic communication, it will be “the first event of its kind”, according to Estonian Defence Minister Jüri Luik, who said the barriers to co-operation between the European Union and NATO “must be reduced”.
