The US Air Force (USAF) is performing a year-long analysis of the future of multi-domain command and control (C2), according to the service’s top officer.
USAF Chief of Staff General David Goldfein said on 26 July said Brigadier General Chance Saltzman is leading a team performing this analysis by conducting experiments in what the USAF calls data-to-decision. In a 2011 memo, former defence secretary Robert Gates called data-to-decision science and applications to reduce the cycle time and manpower requirements for analysis and use of large data sets.
