Indonesian shipbuilder pushes for exports

16 July 2017

Indonesian shipbuilder PT PAL is seeking approval from the government to export naval vessels to countries in West Africa, the president of the shipyard, Budiman Saleh, stated on 14 July.

In comments to the state-owned Antara news agency, Saleh said African interest in PT PAL products was increasing following the company’s export of strategic sealift vessels (SSVs) to the Philippine Navy (PN). The second of these two vessels was delivered to the Philippines in May 2017.

According to Saleh, Senegal “wanted to place an order” with PT PAL for a landing platform dock (LDP) as well as KCR-40 and KCR-60 guided missile fast attack craft while Guinea-Bissau and Gabon each wanted to procure KCR-60 craft.
