First IRBM intercept test for THAAD

The US Missile Defense Agency (MDA), in a test on 11 July, executed a successful intercept of a threat representative intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) with the Lockheed Martin-developed Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system.

The test, designated Flight Test THAAD (FTT)-18, was, supported by elements of the US Army's 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade from Fort Bliss, Texas, Joint Forces Component Command for Integrated Missile Defense, US. Air Force, US Coast Guard, the Pacific Spaceport Complex Alaska (PSCA), the Ballistic Missile Defense Operational Test Agency, the US Department of Defense Operational Test and Evaluation, and the US Army Test and Evaluation Command.
