F21 torpedo enters final development phase

The French Navy’s new F21 heavyweight torpedo has entered its final development phase after completing a successful qualification firing in the Mediterranean.

Being developed for the Direction Générale de l’Armement by DCNS under the auspices of the Artémis programme, the F21 torpedo is planned to replace the F17 Mod 2 heavyweight currently equipping French Navy Le Triomphant-class and Rubis-class nuclear-powered submarines.
