The US Air Force (USAF) will stand up its new deputy chief of staff for space operations position (A11) on 1 August in an effort to elevate space as a warfighting effort, according to the service's top civilian.
USAF secretary Heather Wilson said on 16 June this new position will be a three-star officer who will have a staff to provide advice and counsel to Wilson and USAF chief of staff General David Goldfein in all space matters.
