L3 Technologies announced on 22 May that it had completed the acquisition of Open Water Power, a Massachusetts-based unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) systems company.
Details of the deal were not disclosed.
Open Water Power designs and develops high-density aluminium-water batteries for use in UUVs, and has a prime contract with the US Department of Defense for the development of power-systems for man-portable UUV systems, as well as a contract with the US Naval Sea Systems Command to develop a network of an ocean-floor power system.
The company will be integrated into L3’s Sensor System business.
