Turkey's Defence Industries Undersecretariat has signed an agreement with Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) for the development and serial production of the Hürkus-C light attack aircraft, according to a statement issued by TAI.

The deal, which involves the production of 12 Hürkus-Cs and an option for an additional 12 aircraft, was signed on 11 May on the sidelines of the 2017 International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF) in Istanbul.

The armament for the Hürkus-C, which will be fitted with armour in critical parts, will include INS/GPS-guided bombs, general-purpose bombs, unguided rockets, and machine guns, including locally developed munitions, according to TAI.

The aircraft will also be equipped with electronic warfare systems and an electro-optical sensor, and will be capable of relaying video and other data to ground stations in real time.
