The US Army has recertified Harris' AN/ARC-201D Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS) that is deployed on board its helicopters, following the company's work to replace system components that have become obsolete.
"There were close to a dozen parts that fell into that category on different subassemblies within the radio," Ray Cerrato, Harris Communication Systems' senior business development manager for tactical communications, told Jane's on 3 May.
"We basically had to find substitute parts, effect changes around them, and end up with a solution," Cerrato added. "The ECPs [Engineering Change Proposals] we did [resulted in] the recertification requirement."
