Turkey's Tübitak Bílgem Informatics and Information Security Research Center is developing a self-protection jamming pod for deployment on Turkish Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons.
While development is not yet complete, a production prototype was displayed at the IDEF'17 exhibition in Istanbul.
Designed to be mounted on the aircraft's belly, the jammer pod - known as EWPOD - includes both radar warning receiver (RWR) and electronic countermeasure (ECM) sub-systems. The former uses a series of multiband antennae, with received signals deinterleaved by emitter type. The latter can operate over a wide instantaneous bandwidth, using digital radio frequency (RF) memory to record these signals.
