The US Army is eyeing a number of improvements to its One System Remote Video Terminal (OSRVT).
Speaking at Xponential 2017 in Dallas, Texas, Edward Godzur, product director at the service's UAS Project Office, said that the Level III capability will enable control over aircraft when on the move, among other enhancements.
Godzur said that the mobile operation capability has been enabled by the introduction of an inertial measurement unit, and highlighted the ability for troops moving in convoys to control a UAV that is providing route reconnaissance and top cover for them. The system's Ku-band communications will support a 40 km control range.
