Brazil to soon receive last two modernised F-5 fighters in truncated programme

20 April 2017

The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) will soon receive two more modernised F-5FM Tiger II fighters from Embraer Defesa e Segurança, the FAB's procurement agency told Jane's.

Eight F-5E single-seat and three F-5F two-seat aircraft were earlier acquired from the Royal Jordanian Air Force (RJAF) surplus and were due for modernisation, but the FAB more reduced the number for operational, budget, and lifecycle reasons and instead is only receiving three F-5FMs.

A first modernised F-5FM jet was delivered in 2014, a second is scheduled for delivery in April, and the third in June, the procurement agency said.
