The US Air Force has deployed a Boeing WC-135 Constant Phoenix atmospheric collection aircraft to US facilities in Japan amid concerns that North Korea may conduct another nuclear test, several media outlets reported on 12 April.

The aircraft, which specialises in detecting radioactive debris released into the atmosphere after the detonation of a nuclear device, arrived at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa Prefecture on 7 April, Satoru Kuba, an Okinawan who monitors military aircraft traffic at the base, was quoted by the Stars and Stripes publication as saying.

The Nikkei Asian Review quoted a senior Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF) official as confirming the aircraft's arrival in Okinawa.
