South Korea successfully tests 800 km-range ballistic missile, says report

06 April 2017

South Korea has successfully test-launched a new 800 km-range ballistic missile that can reach anywhere in North Korea, Yonhap news agency quoted defence sources as saying on 6 April.

"There was a test-firing recently of a Hyunmoo-type [also spelled Hyunmu or Hyon Mu] ballistic missile with a range of 800 km at the Anheung test site of the Agency for Defense Development [ADD]," a source familiar with the event told the media outlet on condition of anonymity.

Defence minister Han Min-koo oversaw the test in which the missile "met the key requirements of normal blast, flight, and the accuracy of hitting a target", added the source.
