Embraer Defense & Security and affiliate companies will participate in LAAD 2017, in Rio de Janeiro

30 March 2017

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, March 30, 2017 Embraer Defense & Security and its affiliate companies will be present at the LAAD Defence & Security international exhibition, which will take place from April 4 to 7, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The Company will be located in Pavilion 3 (N22) of the Riocentro convention center, where it will promote the new KC-390 multi-mission transport aircraft and the A-29 Super Tucano light attack and advanced trainer turboprop, along with a broad range of integrated solutions for applications in defense, security and space.

The KC-390 is a new multi-mission, medium-lift transport aircraft that was designed to set new standards in its category while presenting the lowest life-cycle cost on the market. The KC-390 is faster and carries more payload than other aircraft in the segment, being capable of transporting up to 26 metric tons of cargo at a maximum speed of 470 knots (870 km/h), with the ability to operate in austere environments, including on unpaved or damaged runways.

The flight test campaign of the KC-390 is progressing extremely well, validating the aircrafts design goals of performance and capacity, defined through advanced engineering tools. Recently, Embraer and the Brazilian Air Force successfully completed the first dry contact (without fuel transfer) between the KC-390 and F-5M fighters. The flight test campaign will now focus on the initial operational capability declaration (IOC), expected for the second half of 2017, and on the certification of the final operational capability (FOC), in the second half of 2018.

Embraer Defense & Security and affiliate companies will hold three press conferences in the first two days of the event:

April 4 1:00pm Pavilion 2 Mezzanino 2 Announcement: Defense Systems

April 5 10:00am Pavilion 2 Mezzanino 2 KC-390 Program Update

April 5 11:00am Pavilion 2 Mezzanino 2 Atech: New Product Line
