LIMA 2017: Thales makes inroad into Malaysian market with Air Force helicopter flight simulator delivery

23 March 2017

The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) has received and operationalised a helicopter flight simulator from Thales, the company announced on 22 March at the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace (LIMA) exhibition.

The simulator, which is currently being used to train RMAF pilots for the H120 light utility single engine helicopter from Airbus, has been operationalised at the RMAF College in Alor Setar, in the state of Kedah. It is the first ever flight simulation contract won by Thales for the Malaysian market, and the company worked with a local aviation consultant, Gading Kasturi, to deliver the project.

To suit the RMAF's training requirements, Thales has developed a visual database that has been adapted for the Malaysian environment.
