China and Kyrgyzstan have expressed their intention to upgrade bilateral military ties, the China Military Online website reported on 20 March.
"Bilateral relations have reached an unprecedented high level," General Fang Fenghui, a member of China's Central Military Commission, was quoted as saying following a 17 March meeting in Beijing with Major General Rayimberdi Duishenbiev, chief of General Staff of the Kyrgyz Armed Forces.
"China's military is willing to work with its Kyrgyz counterparts to implement the important consensuses reached by the heads of state of the two countries, maintain close high-level contact, and deepen co-operation in [the] fields of defence and security, anti-terrorism, joint drills, and personnel training, so as to upgrade the relations between the two militaries," said Gen Fang.
