Romania upgrades combat training centre

07 March 2017

The Romanian Army is embarking on a major improvement programme for the Land Forces Combat Training Centre (CTC) 'Getica' in Cincu. Speaking at the SMi Land Forces Simulation and Training Conference in London, Brigadier General Gheorghita Vlad, the CTC commander, described the centre as the "only fully integrated CTC in Eastern Europe".

The CTC includes two live training areas at Cincu and Cartisoara. Brig Gen Vlad noted that the two are networked and therefore a brigade headquarters (HQ) can conduct a constructive command post exercise (CPX) at Cincu while a battalion conducts a live exercise at Cartisoara, with the two sharing a common operational picture (COP).
