DRS Technologies eyes Middle East EW market

01 March 2017

DRS Technologies hopes to build on its recent contract award from Jordan for equipment for a second electronic warfare (EW) battalion to expand its footprint as an EW equipment provider in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Speaking to Jane's at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) 2017 in Abu Dhabi, Bill Guyan, vice-president of DRS Technologies C4ISR Group, said that a contract for a large land-based tactical EW programme for a Gulf state was expected to be awarded later in 2017, and he was hopeful that DRS would be successful in securing this. Were that to be the case he said that DRS Technologies would hope to become "the dominant regional player, as we know a number of other countries in the region have similar requirements and might be inclined to adopt an existing successful solution".
