North Korea's military is likely operating a regiment-level biochemical weapons unit, South Korea's Ministry of National Defense (MND) was quoted by Yonhap news agency as saying on 27 February.
"North Korea is operating production facilities for chemical and biological weapons and has a stockpile of such materials that can be used in any attack," Yonhap cited the MND in Seoul as saying during a meeting with the Bareun Party, a splinter group from South Korea's ruling and newly named Liberty Korea Party.
The ministry said that, as a result, it plans to bolster the country's chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) detection capabilities.
