S-Plane Automation and Stemme AG are partnering to develop an optionally piloted capability for the ECARYS ES15.
The effort will see S-Plane Automation's unmanned systems technology integrated onto the aircraft.
Speaking to Jane's at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) 2017 in Abu Dhabi, Charl van der Merwe, S-Plane's director of business development, said that the company's xKIT - which integrates a number of unmanned aircraft sub-systems into a single unit - will be installed on the ECARYS ES15, along with an interface unit.
Van der Merwe explained that to provide an optionally piloted capability, the company typically works with an aircraft's manufacturer to determine the most effective way to integrate actuators and other components that enable the platform to be flown remotely or autonomously.
