USAF develops new signal processor for AMRAAM

23 February 2017

The US Air Force (USAF), in collaboration with Raytheon Missile Systems, is developing a new signal processor for the Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM). Funded by the USAF, this development falls under the Form Fit Function Refresh(F3R) programme, which is designed to ensure AMRAAM production into the 2020s.

Raytheon declined to disclose the exact performance enhancements that will be delivered by the new signal processor, but confirmed that it "has been in development for several years", and is scheduled to be integrated into AMRAAM production in 2020.
