Further details have emerged of the capabilities of the TL-2 (Thunder Lightning 2) missile.
Speaking to Jane's at IDEX 2017, a representative of the China National Aero-Technology Import & Export Corporation said that the missile is now in service with the Chinese military, although he declined to disclose which branch.
The TL-2, he said, has particular utility on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), owing to its light weight, adding that it has been trialled from multiple platforms. At the exhibition the missile was shown integrated onto an ASN-209 tactical UAV.
The missile features high-explosive anti-tank and fragmentation warheads and is designed to engage stationary and moving targets, including light armoured vehicles and personnel.
