USN begins loading first Trident II D5 LE missiles into SSBNs

The US Navy (USN) has concluded testing of its submarine launched Trident II D5 missile, conducted over a three-day period in the Pacific Missile Range off the coast of California.

An Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine assigned to Submarine Group 9 completed the Follow-on Commander's Evaluation Test (FCET) on 16 February. FCET is a US Strategic Command directed test and the goal is to obtain, under operationally representative conditions, valid reliability, accuracy, and performance of the missile system, according to the USN.
