Elbit Systems receives US Army mortar fire control system contract

Elbit Systems of America, a subsidiary of Israeli defence company Elbit Systems, has been awarded a US Army contract for field mortar fire control systems.

The indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract was announced on 16 February. If fully ordered it could extend to a five-year period and has a maximum value of USD102 million, Elbit Systems said.

The company provides for the US Army a Mortar Fire Control Systems Mounted (MFCS-M), Mortar Fire Control Systems Dismounted (MFCS-D), and a lightweight handheld mortar ballistic computer. Elbit Systems said the systems provide "greater accuracy while reducing potential exposure to the enemy".
