Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) is preparing to undergo another major reorganisation; the corporation's second restructuring in the past few years.
A company spokesman confirmed to IHS Jane's on 11 January that MHI is planning to consolidate its four business units into three, with its commercial aerospace activities to be merged into its existing defence division, Integrated Defense & Space Systems (IDSS).
The move comes three years after the completion of a restructuring that amalgamated MHI's nine previous divisions into four and the emergence of the IDSS unit, which merged defence activities undertaken by several legacy divisions.
The spokesman said MHI would be moving towards a "three-domain structure", with new divisions provisionally named: Aerospace & Defense Systems; Power Systems; and Industry, Environment and Social Systems.
