Germany to send more troops to Mali

The German government announced on 11 January that it had approved increasing its contribution to the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) from 650 soldiers to 1,000.

It said the Bundeswehr will also deploy transport and combat helicopters to replace the Dutch CH-47 Chinooks and AH-64 Apaches that are currently supporting the missions. The German helicopters will arrive in March at the earliest.
