TCI International builds signals database for new C-SUAS

06 December 2016

SPX Corporation's TCI International has developed a counter-small unmanned aerial system (C-SUAS) tracking technology based upon the company's legacy Blackbird signal detection, classification, and geo-location system.

The C-SUAS system utilises angle of arrival and/or time difference of arrival for accurate geo-location, Kevin Davis, senior vice president of business development for TCI International, told IHS Jane's.

"What we have done is develop a [SUAS] detection client on top of that, which is utilising the same architecture, the hardware, the antenna, and the same software but it is a user-friendly interface and very specific to detecting [SUAS]."

Additionally, TCI's Blackbird Drone Detection and Geolocation system can locate a SUAS' controller.
