UK confirms Sea Ceptor order for Type 26 programme

The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has confirmed a GBP100 million (USD124 million) Demonstration and Manufacture (D&M) contract with MBDA for the supply of the GWS 35 Sea Ceptor local area anti-air guided weapon system for the Royal Navy's (RN's) new Type 26 Global Combat Ship.

Although it was revealed on 4 November as part of a wider announcement on the start date for Type 26 build, IHS Jane's understands the contract was in fact awarded in August.
