Blue Chip Flight School (Outside Hangar 6) is a prominent flight training school in South Africa, based at Wonderboom (Pretoria) and Newcastle airports, with a successful track record of training of both private and commercial pilots. Its varied fleet of aircraft is made up largely of the single-engine Cessna 172 Skyhawk and Piper Arrow, and twin-engine Beech 55 Baron, backed up by an array of other aircraft with retractable gear, variable-pitch propellers and fuel injection systems for advanced training.
Its new Simuflight Single- Engine Seneca and Multi Engine FNPT II simulator requires no physical cockpit reconfiguration to switch between flight models; at the touch of a button the flight model is changed, complete with reconfigured type-specific instruments.
In alliance with FlyJetstream, the company has introduced a training concept that provides the opportunity for a student to accompany an experienced pilot on an actual charter flight. The student can thus observe the flight planning process, instrument approaches and border crossings, as well as flying into busy international airports such as Johannesburg’s O R Tambo. This exposure will ensure that the student is equipped with additional skills for a smoother entry to the commercial market.
