Extending ripples [AAD16D1]

14 September 2016

Like the proverbial pebble causing ripples in a pond, first-time AAD exhibitor Rippel Effect Manufacturing (REM) is now widening the well-established Rippel Effect brand in the market.

“We’re confident our business, which is a privately black-owned OEM making its debut at AAD this year, is set to grow from strength to strength,” said chief executive Donald (Buti) Ramfolo. “Visitors here at AAD will see how we’ve managed to create partnerships with South Africa’s military, especially Special Forces, and with the local defence industry.”

He was referring to exhibits featuring the Rippel Effect XRGL40 extended range grenade launcher, innovative sighting systems such as the electronic programmable GR40, and the Double Mount system on numerous vehicle displays, including those of LMT Products, OTT Technologies, REVA vehicles, the DCD Group and Twiga Services & Logistics.

“Grenade launchers manufactured by REM are in use in 27 countries around the world,” said Ramfolo. “Our XRGL40, fully qualified in 2007, is in service in 14 countries. Not only that, several major 40mm ammunition manufacturers use the XRGL40 to develop medium velocity [MV] ammunition.”

The Show Daily has previously reported that Diehl BGT Defence, Rheinmetall-Denel Munition and Indumil of Colombia, as well as Energetics Technologies Ltd (ETL) in the UK, were developing a 40mm MV grenade by using the XRGL40.

STK of Singapore and South Africa’s Atlantis Corporation certified their extended range low velocity (LV) grenades with this weapon.

The company is also in production with a dedicated less-lethal grenade launcher range, which includes the six-shot revolver-type RLL37/38 and RLL40.

Products manufactured by REM (Stand OS4, outside Hangar 3) are exclusively sold by REM in Africa (including South Africa), with its sister company Rippel Effect Systems (Pty) Ltd focused on the rest of the world.
