What to do where electronics have to be robust and lightweight for connection in confined spaces and in harsh environments? Swiss company Fischer Connectors (Hall 6, Stand G497) has launched the ultra-miniature MiniMax 06 as an extension of its MiniMax series.
Packing up to 12 power and signal contacts in a 10mm footprint gives a density factor of 0.83, which is a measure of dividing the receptacle diameter by the number of contacts available in that receptacle size.
More importantly, the MiniMax 06 also includes two signal and two high-power 1.3mm contacts for applications requiring 10A or more power. This is double the standard 5A current rating of the existing MiniMax product line.
“With this product we proved that miniaturisation in connectivity can be successfully implemented in rugged high-density solutions that combine power and signal,” said product manager Wim Vanheertum.
Fischer MiniMax connectors are of the push-pull, screw and quick-release type, able to withstand up to 5,000 cycles of connecting and disconnecting.
The MiniMax 06 is available as a pre-cabled solution, ideal for handheld or body-worn applications, such as instrumentation and testing equipment in UAVs. By using MiniMax connectors, design engineers typically save up to 45 per cent space and reduce weight by up to 75 per cent compared with standard connectors with a similar contact size.
