The Taliban launched an offensive in the area of Boboji, close to Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital of the southern province of Helmand, on the night of 20 October.
Local media reported that the insurgents were able to take control of Boboji, but then lost the area to the Afghan National Defence and Security Forces (ANDSF) shortly afterwards on 21 October. General Dadan Lawang, commander of the Afghan National Army's 215th Corps responsible for Helmand, confirmed this to IHS Jane's on 23 October, claiming that the situation in Boboji has, despite ongoing operations, again normalised and that the insurgents have either been killed or put to flight.
