Paris Air Show 2015: Orbital ATK prepares to deliver ShotFinder HFI to launch customer

17 June 2015

Orbital ATK (formerly Alliant Techsystems) expects to deliver its ShotFinder hostile fire indicator (HFI) system to its inaugural customer in the coming months, a senior company official told IHS Jane's on 17 June.

The ShotFinder hostil-fire indicator comprises a single slimline and lightweight sensor that is attached to the underside of the host aircraft, making it considerably lighter and easier to install than other comparable systems. Speaking at the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, William Kasting, vice-president and general manager for Defense Electronic Systems, said that the unspecified Middle Eastern customer is to receive an undisclosed number of systems to help protect its helicopters against ground fire. While Kasting declined to divulge the identity of the customer, it was revealed at the IDEX exhibition in February to be the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
