Indonesia's foreign policy priorities over the next five years will include an emphasis on safeguarding the country's maritime territories, the country's top diplomat has said.
Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi highlighted the country's new direction during her ministry's annual statement delivered on 8 January. Retno was unveiled as Indonesia's first female foreign minister in October 2014 by President Joko Widodo.
"Indonesian diplomatic policies will be carried out with the purpose of protecting the country's territorial integrity", said Retno.
