Patria has delivered the first renovated XA-180 6x6 armoured personnel carrier (APC) back to the Finnish Defence Forces, the company announced.
Refurbishments to the pre-series vehicle included: the installation of new seating to improve road safety; the installation of new electric systems within the vehicle; repairs the vehicle; and a complete inspection of the vehicle's engine, transmission, and axels - repairing or replacing parts as necessary.
With the first renovated vehicle now handed over, the company will now work to fulfil its contract to renovate a further 70 XA-180 APCs. These are expected to be handed over to the Finnish Defence Forces between 2015 and 2017. The Finnish Ministry of Defence (MoD) also has an option within its contract with Patria for a further 210 XA-180 vehicles to be renovated - bringing Finland's potential future renovated XA-180 fleet to 281 vehicles.
