Australian optics specialist Byfield Optics has developed the world's first polarised binocular. Incorporating the company's integrated polarised lens system, the binoculars employ polarisation to significantly reduce the glare from water, fog, snow, glass and other reflective surfaces. At the same time, polarisation also allows fishermen and boat operators to see further into water.
Byfield Optics has 25 years of experience producing customised ballistic eye protection and the polarisation of optical viewing equipment. Many of its products are for military customers. The binoculars use high-quality lenses and are fully ruggedised, including shock resistance, ergonomically designed rubber skin and nitrogen filling. The polarised binoculars have been used during the search for the missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH370.
