DSA 2014: CSTC unveils Algerian corvette design

The state-owned enterprise China Shipbuilding Trading Company (CSTC) revealed the final design of the Algerian Navy's C28A corvette at DSA 2014 in Kuala Lumpur.

Li Jun, CSTC's senior manager of sales for Asia and Latin America, told IHS Jane's on 16 April that the C28A's hull has been specifically designed to reduce the vessel's radar cross section. The ship's exhausts have also been moved towards its waterline to reduce its infrared signature.

The corvette will be armed with one NORINCO 76 mm main gun and two Type 730 seven-barrel 30 mm guns that will be used as the ship's close-in weapon system (CIWS).
