- Pakistani militant Islamist group Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) announced on 7 November that Maulana Qazi Fazlullah had become the group's new leader.
- Fazlullah replaced Hakimullah Mehsud, who was killed in a suspected United States unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) missile strike in North Waziristan on 1 November.
- Hakimullah's killing ended the nascent beginning of TTP-Islamabad peace talks, and the appointment of Fazlullah leaves any future prospect of talks unlikely in the short-to-medium term.
Maulana Qazi Fazlullah has been selected as the new leader of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), according to a statement released by the group on 7 November. Consensus on Fazlullah's selection was seemingly not easily reached and reportedly came after six days of deliberations by the group's shura (consultative council).
