Brazil, Russia agree to space and cyber collaboration

The governments of Russia and Brazil will deepen their strategic partnership through co-operation in cyber security, space technologies, and joint technology development, Brazilian defence minister Celso Amorim announced on 16 October.

The decision to establish two working groups on cyber security and space was made following a meeting with Russian defence minister Sergei Shoigu, which also saw the countries agree to establish a political-strategic dialogue covering defence and international security.

Brazil will send representatives to Russia to begin the final stage of negotiations for the purchase of Russian Igla and Pantsir -S1 short- and medium-range air-defence systems before the end of 2013.
