Bell Helicopter, a subsidiary of Textron Inc, revealed that it has partnered with Lockheed Martin on development of its V-280 Valor tilt-rotor design.

Lockheed Martin, Bell's first 'tier one' team member for the project, will be contributing mission system equipment packages, according to a 9 September statement from Bell and Lockheed Martin. Bell said additional team members will be announced in the coming months.

In June the company said that the V-280 had been selected as one of at least three industry bidders expected to sign technology investment agreements with the US Army for the Joint Multi-Role (JMR) Technology Demonstrator (TD) programme.
