Czech Gripen lease renewal close

The Czech Republic's extension of its lease of 14 Saab JAS 39 Gripen fighter aircraft is now only two steps away, Defence Minister Vlastimil Picek has told IHS Jane's .

"I am now submitting the information on the results of the discussions with the Swedish party regarding the lease extension to the government and recommending that the government agrees to proceed to the preparation of a draft lease extension agreement. So, we are about to take the penultimate step," Picek stated to IHS Jane's .

The first step will thus be assessment of the current Swedish offer by government; if the government finds the bid acceptable, it will authorise Picek to prepare the wording of the lease extension agreement.
