Navistar International and AM General have protested a US Special Operations Command (SOCOM) contract award to General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD OTS) for a new Ground Mobility Vehicle (GMV).

SOCOM awarded GD OTS an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract that could be worth up to USD562 million for GMV 1.1 trucks, the Pentagon announced on 22 August. GD OTS teamed with Flyer Defense LLC to develop the Flyer Advanced Light Strike Vehicle (ALSV), and offered a variant of that for the programme. SOCOM has indicated that it would like to purchase 1,297 GMVs by September 2020.

"Navistar is protesting," company spokeswoman Lauren McFarland told IHS Jane's via email.
